Red Chilli Flakes (ڈھیرا مرچ)

Dhera Mirch (ڈھیرا مرچ) refers to a type of dried red chili that is usually long, wrinkled, and mildly spicy. It is commonly used in South Asian cooking to add a rich red color and a mild to moderate heat to dishes like curries, dals, and pickles. Unlike very hot chilies, dhera mirch is favored for its flavor-enhancing qualities rather than intense spiciness.

It is often fried whole in oil (called tarka or baghaar) to infuse dishes with aroma and a subtle kick. Dhera mirch is also sometimes ground into powder or used whole in traditional recipes.
