Home-Made Pickle

Homemade pickle, or Gharelu Achar (گھریلو اچار), is a traditional, flavorful condiment made by preserving fruits or vegetables in oil, salt, and a blend of spices. Common ingredients include mango, lemon, carrots, green chilies, garlic, or mixed vegetables, combined with spices like fennel seeds (saunf), fenugreek (methi dana), mustard seeds (rai), turmeric, red chili powder, and nigella seeds (kalonji). The mixture is usually set in sunlight for a few days to develop its tangy, spicy flavor. Homemade pickles not only add zest to meals but also carry a taste of tradition, care, and regional variety in every bite.
